Summary

In this sequel novella to Sorcery of Thorns, Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas must unravel the magical trap keeping them inside Thorn Manor in time for their Midwinter Ball!

Elisabeth Scrivener is finally settling into her new life with sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn。 Now that their demon companion Silas has returned, so has scrutiny from nosy reporters hungry for gossip about the city's most powerful sorcerer and the librarian who stole his heart。 But something strange is afoot at Thorn Manor: the estate's wards, which are meant to keep their home safe, are acting up and forcibly trapping the Manor's occupants inside。 Surely it must be a coincidence that this happened just as Nathaniel and Elisabeth started getting closer to one another。。。

With no access to the outside world, Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas - along with their new maid Mercy - will have to work together to discover the source of the magic behind the malfunctioning wards before they're due to host the city's Midwinter Ball。 Not an easy task when the house is filled with unexpected secrets, and all Elisabeth can think about is kissing Nathaniel in peace。 But when it becomes clear that the house, influenced by the magic of Nathaniel's ancestors, requires a price for its obedience, Elisabeth and Nathaniel will have to lean on their connection like never before to set things right。

A wonderfully cozy follow-up to A Sorcery of Thorns!Elisabeth and Nathaniel are back with a problem that's far greater than the end of the world - it's the fact the Thorn Manor is rebelling against them and refuses to let them leave。 Each time they attempt it, the bricks themselves shutter in anger。 Setting out to find answers in the mysterious halls only leads to more unanswered questions - and some very funny situations。I adored this novella。 It was so perfectly written to wrap up the ache I h A wonderfully cozy follow-up to A Sorcery of Thorns!Elisabeth and Nathaniel are back with a problem that's far greater than the end of the world - it's the fact the Thorn Manor is rebelling against them and refuses to let them leave。 Each time they attempt it, the bricks themselves shutter in anger。 Setting out to find answers in the mysterious halls only leads to more unanswered questions - and some very funny situations。I adored this novella。 It was so perfectly written to wrap up the ache I had from finishing the original novel。 There's just something about wanting to know every little detail about the characters you love after you leave them。 And while I did love the way Sorcery of Thorns ended, this feels like the cherry on top of an otherwise delicious piece of cake。 It was sweet, it was wholesome, and it even brought a couple tears to my eyes。Nothing can beat the magic and warmth that exudes from Margaret Rogerson's writing and this piece just feels like the quintessential cozy read。 I can see myself picking this up again and again just to sink myself back into the story and the world。 I can't wait to pick up a copy for my shelves!Thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, and Margaret K。 McElderry Books for providing me with a copy for an honest review! 。。。more

I adored Sorcery of Thorns, and this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year。 I was not disappointed。 It’s fun and entertaining, and there are some incredibly touching moments too。 The story takes place a couple of months after the conclusion of Sorcery of Thorns and is set in Thorn Manor, as Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Silas, and their new employee Mercy are trapped within。 Elizabeth and Nathaniel must figure out what happened to the wards and why the house is working against them。This is a I adored Sorcery of Thorns, and this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year。 I was not disappointed。 It’s fun and entertaining, and there are some incredibly touching moments too。 The story takes place a couple of months after the conclusion of Sorcery of Thorns and is set in Thorn Manor, as Elisabeth, Nathaniel, Silas, and their new employee Mercy are trapped within。 Elizabeth and Nathaniel must figure out what happened to the wards and why the house is working against them。This is a great fantasy for people who love books。 Elizabeth had a special connection to grimoires, and her love of and affection toward them makes my book-loving heart happy。 The supernatural elements are also fantastic, and I love how so many regularly inanimate objects have distinct personalities, especially the grimoires and the house。 Oh my gosh, the attack topiaries, the murderous clothing, the cursed coat of arms – it’s all so magical, entertaining, and fun, and it can be a little dangerous。This was one of the things she loved best about books。 She might never know who had written the dedication, or how long ago, or to whom, but she could briefly clasp hands with them across eternity, a chance meeting of souls made possible by their shared love of a story。I also like that we learn so much more about Thorn Manor and its past inhabitants。 I was hoping more of Nathaniel’s past would be explored, as well as his ancestry, and we learned a ton about the Thorns, the house, and Silas’s connection to each。 With some of these revelations, we also learn how Nathaniel struggles with his memories, which manifest in his nightmares。 Poor Nathaniel! I feel so bad for him and all he’s gone through。 He and Elisabeth (and Silas) deserve some happy, peaceful times! Of course, first they have to figure out why the house won’t let them leave, and they have a ball to prepare for, as Thorn Manor is hosting, much to Nathaniel’s displeasure and Elisabeth’s curiosity。It was so fun being able to revisit Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas。 I adored these characters, and to see how they are doing after what happened in Sorcery of Thorns is fantastic。 Nathaniel is healing, Silas is acting strangely, and Elisabeth is adjusting to her new normal。 Their relationships are growing and changing, and they have formed this unique family unit and unbreakable bond。 Oh, and Mercy has come to work for Nathaniel! She had a small but important role in Sorcery of Thorns, and I was curious about what happened to her。 I love that she has a bigger role in this book, and her personality really shines。The focus of the novel is the relationship between Elizabeth and Nathaniel, and even Thorn Manor wants to know more about their feelings for each other! Nathaniel’s humor and charm are everything, and his devotion to and love for Elizabeth is so sweet。 Elisabeth describes falling in love so well, and I love all the ways they both profess their love for each other without actually saying the words。 Plus, their banter is top-notch。 And the final scenes are beautifully romantic and magical for Elisabeth and Nathaniel。The relationship between Elizabeth and Silas is another highlight of the story, which isn’t a surprise because I ADORE Silas! He’s changed, yet so much of him has stayed the same, and his growing friendship with Elisabeth is fabulous。 The scene where he teaches her to dance is a wonderfully touching moment and says so much about their feelings toward each other。 We see a tender side to Silas, which I love!I would definitely recommend this novella to readers of ya fantasy。 It’s clever, unique, and super fun, and I love Rogerson’s immersive writing style。 Special thanks to NetGalley, Turn the Page Tours and the publisher for gifting me a copy of the book。 All thoughts are my own。 。。。more

This was perfection, so charming, funny, and cozy。 It’s a character story driven, especially more focused on the romance of Elizabeth and Nathaniel instead of a big adventure。A few months have passed since Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Silas saved the world, and their life is now calmer until the manor decides to meddle and keep them hostage inside it。 Now they have to find secret rooms and find a way to make the manor happy, instead of drama, this story feels a little more like a fairytale quest, wh This was perfection, so charming, funny, and cozy。 It’s a character story driven, especially more focused on the romance of Elizabeth and Nathaniel instead of a big adventure。A few months have passed since Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Silas saved the world, and their life is now calmer until the manor decides to meddle and keep them hostage inside it。 Now they have to find secret rooms and find a way to make the manor happy, instead of drama, this story feels a little more like a fairytale quest, where the characters have to cleverly solve almost impossible tests。 This is my request for the author to publish a compilation of fairytales。What awaits you:• Lovely romance• Magical and nosy house with secret chambers• Sweet found family moments• More about Nathaniel's family fastI love to see the relationship between Elizabeth and Nathaniel progressing, they are so adorable and funny, and their banter and teasing keep their relationship healthy and entertaining。 I also loved meeting Silas again, he is a little different, and Elizabeth is a little worried; their scenes together were sweet they are now family。 If you loved the first book and want more, this is perfect, it feels like a long epilogue with the right mix between romance and still a dose of mystery。 Thanks to Turn the Pages for the early copy Follow meBookstagramt 。。。more

This is a good continuation from Sorcery of Thorns and it is nice to see that the resolution still has some sticking points where Silas' relationship to the rest is being worked out。 Those who wanted more nice moments between Nathaniel and Elisabeth will be well rewarded with several heart fluttery moments and a bit of banter。 Entertaining, but relies on the strength of your love for Sorcery of Thorns to make it interesting。 This is a good continuation from Sorcery of Thorns and it is nice to see that the resolution still has some sticking points where Silas' relationship to the rest is being worked out。 Those who wanted more nice moments between Nathaniel and Elisabeth will be well rewarded with several heart fluttery moments and a bit of banter。 Entertaining, but relies on the strength of your love for Sorcery of Thorns to make it interesting。 。。。more

This was exactly the kind of follow up that I needed to Sorcery of Thorns。It was sweet and romantic and wonderful。 You got to learn so much more about Silas and Nathaniel and the house。 I loved watching Elisabeth and Nathaniel be all cute and in love。 Everything about this was absolutely perfect。 God I hope she writes more about them。 I just love them so much。

I'd say even after years I was way beyond excited to jump back into Thorn Manor。 Margaret never fails to deliver a cozy low stakes fantasy with a touch of humor and Mysteries Of Thorn Manor is just perfect the way it is。It is one of those fun sized fluffy books to cuddle up with on a snowy day in front of a fireplace, with all its charming magic and wholesome characters it read like a fairytale but for adults。 I thought that I was being given a tour of the Thorn manor or watching a week in a life of Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Silas along with new occupant Mercy, it is just so fun to revisit the world and some of the characters。 While our beloved Silas remained as enigmatic as ever, Nathaniel's famous quirky one liners made me laugh out loud so many times。 The moments between Elizabeth and Nathaniel were so heartwarming and wholesome。 If I adored Silas before, I love him so much now!!that epilogue though。。。This short but satisfactory novella delivered everything I'd hoped for and a bit more, after reading that epilogue I'd be lying if I said I didn't crave for another book like the greedy reader I am。 While I am not all complaining about the short novella, I'd never say no to more- Just saying! *wink wink* 。。。more

It didn't really have much of a suspenseful mystery element - it was figured out pretty quickly what was happening I was a bit thrown off when it ended up being about “true love” - I love romance as much as the next person but the obsession with “mates” and “true love” and only one person for you in YA literature is not my favourite。 - I loved that Elizabeth got a set of armour and I genuinely thought the story was going to turn tropes on its head and make her the knight in shining armour wooing a damsel (being Nathaniel) instead of Nathaniel having to court Elizabeth。 And then that didn’t happen and I was very sad。 。(hide spoiler)]Overall a cute quick read to sate people who enjoyed the first book and is out on January 17。 And hopefully opens up the possibility for more in the series! 3。5/5 Stars。 。。。more

What a great feeling to be back in this world again。 I love these characters so much。While this is a quick read, it does a great job of having a lot happen in the small amount of pages。 I loved the relationship between Elisabeth and Nathaniel。 I loved the closed and secluded feel of this book while they are all trapped inside Thorn Manor。Silas, my favorite still, was the absolute BEST in this novella, completely stealing the show。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 A nice quick little sequel to A Sorcery of Thorns。 It was nice that Elisabeth and Thorn are really forced to figure out their relationship。 Though I feel like the “engagement” at the end was a cop out in how it was handled。Silas and his sarcasm of course made this all the more enjoyable。 And learning he was the one that made the house go into attack mode to speed up Nathaniel’s love life was a stroke of genius。

Sorcery of Thorns was an absolute joy to read。 Magical libraries? Dashing sorcerers? Strong, smart female main character?
